How a Kiwi 🇳🇿 Amateur earned a College 🇺🇸 Scholarship

The Story of Hiro Sequera

Hiro started playing football when he was 9 years old in Nelson, New Zealand.

But because of his late start to the game, he was never a real standout player in his team.

But things then began to change when he was 15, as he discovered Train Effective through our collaboration with Rio Ferdinand.

He started using the app for 2-3 hours a day - doing drills, tactical training, and of course mentality training with Rio Ferdinand. ï»¿

From then on things began to skyrocket for Hiro.

Only one year later, at 16, he got an offer to play for the men’s team for the best team in his region!

Which was a huge step in his journey!

But it didn’t end there.

After 2 years playing with the club, he got offered a 3 months trial, with Fuenlabrada - a club in the 3rd Spanish Division.

But then Covid hit.

And so with lockdown and travel restrictions, Hiro had to postpone his dream of playing in Spain.

Instead, he got a scholarship opportunity to play at Northeastern State University, a D2 college team in the United States.

However, when Hiro started performing at NSU, he was sidelined for nearly a year ï»¿due to a knee injury.

But Hiro still didn’t give up.

He transferred to the Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma Washington, fully focusing on the recovery from his knee injury.

Now he’s fully recovered, and we’re sure if he keeps up his training and dedication to the game, he’ll only keep improving and climbing further up that football ladder!
